Born in Alexandria, Egypt in 1952, Dr Mourad Labib completed his higher education in 1969 at the French Roman Catholic School, Collège St Marc, and qualified from Alexandria Medical School in 1976. He trained as a Registrar in Chemical Pathology in Leicester and Senior Registrar in the South West Thames Regional Rotation from 1983 to 1989. He is married and has two sons.
He worked as a Consultant Chemical Pathologist at Russells Hall Hospital in Dudley from 1989 until he retired from the NHS in 2017. He has worked as a Consultant Chemical Pathologist for the Doctors Laboratory (Central Region) since 2010. His special interests are lipid disorders, hypoglycaemia, metabolism and weight management.
Dr Labib has been actively involved in research, audit and teaching for over 30 years. He has published over 150 peer-reviewed papers and abstracts and has written five chapters in major textbooks. He has made several presentations at National and International meetings. He is a keen tennis player and a staunch Liverpool FC supporter.
