Service Lead, Permanent – Microbiology

  

We have a vacancy for an enthusiastic, self-motivated operational service lead that will additionally organise and monitor the development and training of staff in the Microbiology department at Northwick Park Hospital.

 

The successful applicant will be a key member of the microbiology department contributing significantly to the operational organisation of the clinical diagnostic service as well as ensuring we have a suitably trained and competent workforce at our Northwick Park Hospital site.

 

We have Group wide IBMS training approval for both pre and post registration training and the post holder will maintain strong links with our national Education and Training Faculty via the Infection Sciences training Committee.

 

You will have post graduate qualifications in Biomedical or Life Sciences and have experience of working in a clinical Microbiology laboratory as a registered Biomedical Scientist at a senior level or above. The role requires good organisational and communication skills along with knowledge of relevant regulatory training and competence requirements.

 

The department operates a continuous processing service and, as part of the role, some unsocial working commensurate with managing the service will be required.

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist to join the Biochemistry Department at Ealing Hospital.

 

Duties will include the routine operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of various analysers, including the Roche COBAS 6000. You will be required to participate in departmental shifts including late and weekend cover.

 

Diagnostic work will include the interpretation of first line laboratory results and taking appropriate actions in line with laboratory policies and procedures.
