Point of Care Trainer

A vacancy has arisen for a Point of Care Trainer who will beresponsible for providing PoCT Training, general administration support and to ensure efficient provision of PoCT services. You will be working closely with the BMI Contract Manager and the Laboratory Service Compliance Director.

 

Duties and responsibilities will include ensuring hospital staff are familiar with analytical procedures, maintenance and trouble shooting of PoCT equipment, to maintain hospital staff are adequately trained to use PoCT devices and to liaise with TDL’s training department to coordinate activities.

 

You will also be responsible for assisting with the stock control and despatch of consumables for PoCT to client sites and maintaining an electronic stock inventory and month end reconciliation. Regular travel across England will be expected.

 

The successful candidate must be willing to travel throughout the UK, possess good communication skills as well as the ability to manage time effectively and work unsupervised.

TDL is a CPA accredited diagnostic laboratory offering a comprehensive range of diagnostic services to doctors, including fertility specialists and other healthcare professionals.



You will be required to perform semen analysis, post vasectomy semen analysis, determination of retrograde ejaculation, reactive oxygen species analysis, sperm swim-ups etc. and preparation of samples for sperm DNA fragmentation and aneuploidy. The position involves liaising with both patients and healthcare professionals on a daily basis.

 

Duties include booking appointments, preparing patient rooms, receiving, analysing and reporting the results of semen samples submitted for analysis and ensuring that the highest levels of quality and service are maintained.

 

Involvement with Quality processes will be key, such as monitoring internal and external quality assurance schemes, ensuring optimal storage of all samples and other data as required by the CPA/TDL, and liaising with TDL’s Quality Management Group during audits and helping to implement the required action.  The role will include using computerised reporting systems. 

 

Ideally, you should be an HPC-registered biomedical or clinical scientist, with a science degree or equivalent, and have experience of working within the healthcare field, with report writing experience, and be fully familiar with the purpose and day-to-day laboratory organisation of the TDL Andrology service.
