Dr Sarah Wexler qualified in 1989 from St Bartholomew’s Hospital Medical School, University of  London. She trained in Haematology in Bristol and Bath before taking up a substantive consultant post at the Royal United Hospital in Bath in 2003.

Her areas of interest have included transfusion medicine, with a particular interest in anaemia optimisation and alternatives to  transfusion, lymphoma management, myeloproliferative neoplasms and immune thrombocytopenia. She has acted as principle investigator for a number of NHS and commercial trials mainly in the area of myeloproliferative disorders and ITP.

In 2019, Dr Wexler took up the role of Head of Division for Women, Children and Cancer services. Other leadership roles have included Trust Lead for Transfusion, chair of the Regional Transfusion Committee, and member of the National Transfusion Committee, Member of the West of England Pathology Board and Clinical Lead for Pathology until 2019. She is also a member and past Chair of the Bath Clinical Ethics Advisory Group.
